Federal Student Loan Debt Relief Plan

The US Supreme Court has issued a decision blocking the Federal Student Loan One-Time Debt Relief Plan.

Please note that this is the beta version of the website. You are still able to apply, but your application will not be processed until the website is officially launched later this month. Once the website is launched and your application is processed, you are expected to receive your debt relief in a few weeks.

It is recommended that applications be submitted by November 15, 2022 in order to receive the money before the pause on loan repayment ends on December 31, 2022. However, the deadline to apply for the Student Loan Forgiveness will be in December 2023.

Use the following websites to see if you qualify for the loan forgiveness and get more information on how the forgiveness will work once you submit an application. There is also a link that allows you to subscribe so you can stay up to date with current information and be notified when the application is made available.

Information on How and Where to Apply

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)

*Until October 31, 2022, there is a limited waiver where you can receive credit for past payments that normally would not qualify for PSLF.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer.

It is recommended that you submit the PSLF form annually to keep track that you have made qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer. The form linked below is made to be filled out by both you and your employer. Once you have filled it out, you can either submit it online or mail it to the address listed on the website.

Each time you submit the form, once it has been reviewed, you will be informed of where you are in the process. The first time the form is submitted, you will be informed if your employer and/or your loans are eligible. Then for the following years, they will tell you how many qualifying payments you have made, if there are any problems, etc.

Once you have hit 120 payments, they will forgive the remainder of your balance. If there are any payments past the 120 qualifying payments, you will be refunded.
